The University of South China (USC) is a public university founded in 1958 with a history of about 60 years. The University was merged with Hengyang Medical College in 2000. University of South China is situated in Hengyang, a historical and cultural city in central Hunan, China, with a total area of 200 hectares.

School of Medicine:

Hengyang Medical College, one of USC’s predecessors, founded the Medical School in 1958. The School of Medicine is staffed with 218, including 42 professors, 72 associate professors in terms of title, 11 doctoral tutors, and 64 postgraduate tutors in terms of mentorship.

Affiliated Hospitals:

The University of South China has 8 directly affiliated hospitals that are distributed in Hengyang and Changsha. All hospitals are Grade III Class A hospitals.

The First Affiliated Hospital of South China University was established in 1943, directly under the Hunan Provincial Department, which integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, prevention, and rehabilitation.

University of South China admission requirements:

Foreign Students aspiring to enroll in the Clinical Medicine (MBBS) or Engineering programs at the University of South China must adhere to the specified admission standards.

• Students must be under the age of 25 years.
• IELTS or TOEFL is not required to apply.
• Applicants from English-speaking countries will provide English proficiency certificates from their high School.
• Applicants should achieve 80% or more of the full marks in English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
• Students must be fluent in English and healthy.
• Students must show sufficient funds ($5000-$7000) in their bank statements.
• The student must provide the English-translated documents (if issued in a language other than English/Chinese).

The annual Cost of the Medicine program (MBBS) at the University of South China is 24,000 RMB (about $3350), including both tuition and Hostel fees (4 students sharing a room). This cost excludes food expenditures, estimated at 1000 RMB per month ($150).

Internship: Students will complete their internship in the University of South China’s affiliated hospitals during their sixth year. Foreign students are not allowed to do internships in their home countries.
